KING’S LYNN HERITAGE TRAIL

TO HONOUR RAF MARHAM

Following on from last year’s very successful Spitfire Trail, 2016 will see King’s Lynn displaying model Tornado aircraft along a walking ‘arts trail’ that will showcase the towns historic core and also celebrate and commemorate RAF Marham’s 100th anniversary.

Organised by Flight Lieutenant Pauline Petch of  42F (King’s Lynn) Air Cadets, in collaboration with the Borough Council, last year’s trail substantially increased visitor numbers to the town and raised thousands of pounds for charity. It is anticipated that this year’s trail, with its association with RAF Marham, will again boost tourism in the area.

The trail will be one of  RAF Marham’s ‘100 events’ of 2016 that will celebrate its centenary, with each model displaying different information about the RAF base, together with details of the individual models sponsor.

The first four foot long fiberglass Tornado left the assembly line and touched down at the King’s Lynn Air Cadet headquarters last week.

Already 12 models have been sponsored and it is hoped that further businesses will want to be involved in this innovative event that will showcase their company, the town of King’s Lynn and RAF Marham during this very special year for the base.

Sponsors can have their Tornado painted to their individual design and, after the trail has ended, may wish to keep the model or it can be auctioned off, the proceeds going to a charity of their choice.

The trail will be ‘flying’ from June to September. For further details about the forthcoming trail or to sponsor a Tornado contact Flt Lt Petch on 07751899118 or
